To apply for a Diversity Visa (DV) also known as the Green Card Lottery, follow these steps
Check if you are eligible
The Diversity Visa program is available to citizens of countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States
Check the eligibility requirements on the official U.S. Department of State website.
Submit an application
The application can only be submitted online through the U.S. Department of State's official website during the annual registration period
The registration period is usually between October and November of each year.
Wait for the results
Results are announced in May the following year. If you are selected,
you will be notified by mail and provided with further instructions on the next steps.
Attend an interview
If you are selected, you will be required to attend an interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country.
During the interview, you will be asked questions to determine your eligibility for the Diversity Visa.
Obtain a medical exam
You will need to undergo a medical exam to ensure you meet the health requirements for immigration to the United States
Obtain a police certificate
You will need to obtain a police certificate from every country where you have lived for more than six months since the age of 16
Submit the visa application
After completing all the above steps, you will need to submit your visa application
along with all the required documents to the U.S. embassy or consulate.
Wait for the visa to be issued
Once your application has been approved, you will be issued a Diversity Visa,
which will allow you to immigrate to the United States.
It is important to note that the Diversity Visa program is a lottery, and meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee that you will be selected.
